Ballarat has a variety of tree species that are older in their lifespan which can present problems. Limb failure is a common occurrence of older or unbalanced trees, which can have significant and even dangerous consequences. It’s important to manage the trees around your property to prevent any limb failures. Although trees can look perfectly healthy, yet still fail at times. Tree Trimming

Trimming trees is important to the growth cycle and maintaining the visual aesthetics of the tree. It is better to trim when the tree is young because there is less stress to the structure, as opposed to when the tree is older. To start with you want to identify which lower limbs you should remove, along with any crossing or completing limbs on the tree. Its important to trim and cut branches that are parallel to allow more sunlight in and helps the tree grow better, additionally, it reduces the impeding growth of other branches. A good rule of thumb is, if your feet need to leave the ground, it’s time to engage Ballarat Tree Service. We have all the appropriate safety gear to get off the ground and trim your shrubs and trees. Read more here...

Arborist Reports

Trees are a vital part of our landscape, environment, and biodiversity; therefore, most local government areas (LGA’s) have some type of tree protection policies within their municipalities and rightly so. We need to ensure our natural environments are protected and managed accordingly. If you have a problematic tree, are building on a block with trees or undertaking a development, the chances are you will need and arborists report to present to your LGA, particularly if you intend to remove a tree. Ballarat Tree Service can have our arborists attend your location, undertake the relevant risk assessment, and organise your Level 5 arborist report accordingly. Using A Professional Level 5 Arborist!

To be a level 5 professional arborist takes a huge amount of drive and dedication as it is a very physically demanding profession. Arborists are required to climb trees, sometimes of great height, in harnesses, carrying ropes, safety gear and machinery, so it’s not for the faint hearted.

Arborist Health & Safety!

Safety and tree management are the two main reasons why you should hire professional tree surgeons, however, there are many more. Engaging a professional is a decision you shouldn’t take lightly.

Pruning, trimming, and lopping trees can be a dangerous business. If you don’t have experience with arborist machinery, or tree trimming, for your own safety call a professional. Apart from the individual safety aspect, consider the safety of your family, those around you and the broader community.

Increase The Value Of Your Home.

Well developed, structured and mature trees are attractive, pleasing to the eye and can add significant value to your home, property or land. Therefore, your decision to hire a professional, can lead to substantial returns. Particularly in today’s day and age where many people are looking for tree changes.

On the other hand, poorly maintained trees can have the opposite effect and end up being a liability. If your trees are not managed and one has a limb fail, you could be in real trouble, particularly if a branch lands on your home like we so often see during strong storms.

  • How do I know if my tree has decay?

There are a few tell-tale signs to look for if you think a tree might have decay. Take a close look at the bark on the tree. If you see fungus growing on the bark and it has black or white spots, that’s a pretty good indication the tree is unwell. There are many other signs, but if the fungus is obvious, it should be inspected by a professional.

  • How do you treat decay?

When it comes to trees, it’s always better to prevent decay than to treat decay. Many diseases cannot be treated once they infect a tree, which instantly makes you tree a dangerous liability, so here are a couple of tips to help prevent tree decay. Regular tree inspections by a professional can help map a tree and monitor its growth, particularly mature trees. If an inspection identifies a problem, it might be able to be managed with pruning, removing a limb or trunk injections.
